Belbin forms keystone of Leadership Development programme in India
CERT-
The roadblock perceived in realizing this bold and daring vision is not so much external, as internal. When the size of the company was small, the internal community was well knit and worked with zeal and harmony. When the number of people was ramped up significantly, to meet the growing business needs, many issues began to surface.
Smooth communication, process adherence, proactive business development, team bonding took a backseat. Lack of leadership capability that would result in confident and high performance teams, was identified as the clog in making the transition from a performing company to a very high performance company, in a challenging timeframe.
New look for Belbin information and FAQ website
As the number of visitors to the Belbin information and FAQ’s website I edit continues to increase I thought it was time to give it a bit of a makeover and make it more user friendly.
Check it out by clicking here and let me know what you think, even if you have some constructive criticism you wish to make.
New Edition of Belbin books
New editions of Meredith Belbin’s two most popular books have just been published.
Management Teams -
Team Roles at Work is now in its 2nd edition and contains lots of useful information about the application of the Team Role model.
To launch the new editions a 25% discount is available if you order both books together before the end of March. This enables you to buy the two books for £33+p&p instead of £43.98 for the pair. If you wish to take advantage of this Click Here.
If you require a larger quantity of the books please contact me and I can offer you an even better deal and of course the cost of p&p comes down per book the more you order.
Belbin Conference 2010
Well, it isn’t actually going to be a conference as such, as we have decided to adopt
a completely new format. Rather than the normal assortment of speakers on different
issues, we have decided to focus this year on providing an opportunity for users

The event will be on the 6th October and the morning of 7 October at the Doubletree Hilton hotel, Cambridge (formerly The Garden House hotel). If you are interested in attending and would like more information please contact jo@belbin.com.

After putting this unusually large edition of News Update together I think it’s time for a laugh so here is a little story that amused me. I hope it will do the same for you, particularly if you are an HR manager.
There is a factory in Northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys. The
toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms. Well, Lena is hired at The Tickle
Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 am.
The next day
at 8:45 am there is a knock at the HR Manager's door. The Foreman throws open the
door and begins to rant about the new Employee. He complains that she is incredibly
slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind
schedule.
Virtual Team Building
Programme FREE piloting opportunity
In the last edition of News Update we announced the development of an exciting new virtual team building programme. This integrates Belbin into the award winning NoviCraft online active learning exercise.
We have now reached the stage of development where we are ready to run our first pilot programmes and are looking for volunteers.
The deal is that you provide two teams of up to 10 people and we will facilitate the programme free of charge apart from expenses.

Welcome to the latest edition of News Update. As it’s quite a while since the last edition we have quite a lot to cram into this edition so it’s a bit longer than normal but I hope you will find something of interest to you.

VideoArts DVD Offer
Due to a cancelled order I have two new boxed copies of each of my two favourite VideoArts Belbin training DVDs available, complete with resource packs, at a £300 discount. They are original videos that I use on almost all of my courses and workshops.
Building the Perfect Team is in my opinion still the best video available to explain the Belbin Team Role model and Selecting the Perfect Team has loads of material in it covering such things as, matching people to jobs, Team Role chemistry and team selection and balance.
These DVDs are maybe a bit overpriced at the normal price of £1299 each but I can offer you the ones I have for £995 each, or if you buy one of each I can offer the two for £1750. (Free p&p within UK.) I only have the four DVDs available though so it’s a case of first come first served.

The HR Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2 men march down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up. At the end of the line stands Lena surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's. She has a roll of plush Red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles.
The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps it around
two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs. The
HR Manager bursts into laughter (see they do have a sense of humour! Ed). After several
minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches Lena.
'I'm sorry,'
he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face, 'but I think you misunderstood
the instructions I gave you yesterday...' 'Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles.’
